Welcome From the Principal

Laurel Cinematic Arts and Creative Technologies Panthers,

Welcome to the 2025-26 School Year! We are excited to partner with you as we anticipate this will be the best year yet. We are in our 5th year as a full school magnet and have much to celebrate. Students are making gains at a faster pace than area schools. Our children are accomplishing their goals with hard work, skilled practice, and opportunities to connect learning to the world beyond the classroom through the development of podcasts, videos, commercials, coding, game play, virtual reality, and more.

This year our commitment to Linked Learning and project-based learning takes on a new step with the development of Laurel Cinematic Arts as a Community Schools magnet school. Becoming a Community Schools Magnet will allow us to bring even more resources to our families and classrooms. Instructionally, we will be connecting project units to the community to ensure students are able to not only master their academics, but also develop as strong communicators and advocates, who employ open-mindedness and self-efficacy both within and beyond the school day. We will use our talents as makers and storytellers to develop students who are encouraged and excited about the world around them, making a positive impact on their community. This year's theme is connect, create and explore!

In order to ensure your children continue to meet their promise, we need your partnership. You can partner with us in may ways. We encourage you to engage with us by:

  • Working with your child each evening to ensure children are reading their favorite books and stories (at least 15-minutes per day at the younger ages and 30-minutes per day as students get older)
  • Ensuring that screen time limits are in place at home and school
  • Joining Friends of Laurel Cinematic Arts as an active parent contributor
  • Reaching out to your child's teacher to say hello, or to raise a concern that you would like us to work with you to solve
  • Volunteering when possible, and attending school events and programs, and parent meetings (Apply to volunteer at volunteerapp.lausd.net)
  • And,  importantly, bringing your child to school on time daily with no more than 7-school days of absence each school year. Elementary student classes begin at 8:15 (requested arrival time from 8:00 - 8:10 a.m.) Middle School classes begin at 8:00 a.m. (requested arrival time from 7:45 a.m. to 7:55 a.m.)

We have much planned this school year to encourage and excite your child about learning, growing, and connecting with the world around them. We cannot wait to celebrate all of their accomplishments in the coming school year. Please join us at your child's registration/orientation day for new and returning students and for the first day of school on August 14, 2025.

In partnership,

Ms. Corcoran, Principal
